Waqf properties are assets dedicated for charitable, religious and community-oriented purposes. They are entrusted with the intention that their benefits should continue to serve people and society.
However, many Waqf properties face serious challenges, including encroachment, unauthorized occupation, damage, neglect, deterioration and improper utilization. When a Waqf property is lost, damaged or left unused, the community also loses the benefit that the property could have provided.
The All India Waqf Sampatti Sanagrakhan Board (AIWSSB) was established with the objective of promoting the protection and preservation of Waqf properties and helping ensure that their intended purpose is not lost.
